Classy Community Guidelines
Doing good is not just an outcome of our products, it’s who we are. We are a proud Public Benefit Corporation and a Certified B Corp and we constantly look for ways to deepen our impact on the world. Classy’s mission is to mobilize and empower the world for good. To us, this means creating a more inclusive and sustainable world for all. We accept and acknowledge that the phrase “for good” means different things to different people, but hate, discrimination, and violence will never have a place on the Classy platform or in the Classy community.
As part of our commitment to inclusivity, we empower a wide array of organizations and causes through the Classy platform. We believe in presenting a diverse set of perspectives and potential solutions to the world’s social and environmental problems. We believe that with an inclusive approach, the best solutions will ultimately rise to the top.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we prioritize working with people and organizations that seek to create value for all of their stakeholders and embed these principles into their day-to-day operations. We seek out partners—including business partners, vendors, and suppliers—who not only share a stakeholder mindset, but have also taken steps to formalize their commitment to this approach in some way, such as through a B Certification or Pledge 1%.
These guidelines apply to all Classy stakeholders—including customers, partners, employees, and shareholders—and are meant to provide a simple set of rules that align our entire community under a unified code of conduct.
Classy believes in creating a more inclusive and sustainable world for all. We lean on our core values to help us define “good.” While there are unlimited ways a stakeholder can be good, the definition below creates parameters for how we define this as a company.
An inclusive stakeholder is one who seeks diverse perspectives and includes all people and groups, especially underrepresented populations, in their rhetoric and activities. These stakeholders create equitable environments where all can succeed.
A sustainably-minded stakeholder is one that places value on real impact, not vanity metrics. They consider the long-term implications of their decisions, and take accountability for their actions in a way that benefits their community.
The Not Good:
Here are the things that Classy and its community do not stand for. Violation of the items listed below may force us to pause our working relationship, or permanently stop working together.
No Hate Groups:
Classy deems a hate group to be any organization that purposefully advocates and practices hatred, hostility, or violence toward a person or class of people, motivated in whole or in part by race, ethnicity, nation, disability, religion, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
No Hate Speech:
Classy considers hate speech to be a purposeful attack on a person or a class of people, motivated in whole or in part by race, ethnicity, nation, disability, religion, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
Classy considers discrimination to be the denial of justice, resources, or fair treatment of individuals or a class of people, motivated in whole or in part by race, ethnicity, nation, disability, religion, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
Classy does not allow organizations or content on its platform that directly incite, glorify, support, or encourage violence or terrorism against any person or group.
No Slander + Libel:
Classy does not condone defamation, which is defined as an untrue statement that is presented as fact and intended to damage a person or organization's character or reputation. Libel and slander are forms of defamation. Libel is a defamatory statement made in writing, while slander is a defamatory statement that is spoken.
No Sexual Abuse:
Classy considers sexual abuse to be any unwanted sexual activity, in which a person uses force, makes threats, or takes advantage of victims who did not or are not able to give consent.
Classy provides an avenue for our own team members and other stakeholders to report potential violations of our policy. Each case is carefully reviewed and goes through a series of steps to identify whether someone has violated any of the terms outlined above. In most cases we will work with our stakeholder to change, remove, or improve whatever is in question to adhere to the community’s guidelines. In some cases, our evaluation may result in a pause of our working relationship, or a permanent parting of ways. In these cases, we will invite the stakeholder in question to participate in the process and defend itself if necessary. We will also work with the stakeholder to minimize business disruption to the extent possible.
